Some people have too much money.

Do you agree or disagree with the following topic?

Some people have too much money.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Over the last few decades, some people have made a tremendous amount of money. Sure, there have been rich people throughout history, but nowadays a significant number of people have made a fortune in a decade or less. At the same time, poverty on our planet has increased. As a result, a lot of people claim that some of these wealthy people have too much money. I agree with this assumption.

First of all, most of these rich people have so much money that they cannot even spend the interest they receive. As a result, the bank accounts of these people increase steadily, while human beings in other parts of the world are so poor that they cannot even buy bread. The founder of Oracle, for example, gets around €150,000.00 in interest every day. That amount is definitely too much for one person.

Second, a lot of people earn more than what they deserve for the work they do. This trend can be seen in sports, show business, and in the financial services industry. These bloated salaries, however, are paid by all of us. The earnings of a soccer player, for example, are paid by spectators who pay higher and higher ticket prices. Furthermore, a soccer player’s contribution to society is not as significant as that of a nurse or police officer. Indeed, people in these professions are paid badly.

In conclusion, some members of the upper-class have too much money. First of all, their fortunes are so great that they could even live off the interest their money earns. Second, the income of these people is too high in comparison to the income of other groups in society.
